Flash Cards and Beyond: Glenn Doman Method VS Right Brain Education

I own most, if not all, of the Glenn Doman Method books and have enrolled my kids in Right Brain Education schools, which is the Shichida and Heguru Methods.

  1. What are the similarities between Glenn Doman and Right Brain Education with flash cards?

  2. What is Right Brain Education (Shichida and Heguru Method)?

  3. Which is better? Glenn Doman Or Right Brain Education?

It is quite natural for us parents to do our research before enrolling our kids in any early learning program.

As you know, it is vital that we as parents teach our baby or toddler at home as part of their preparation for preschool or kindergarten.

All infants must know their basic reading and math skills, as well as some general knowledge, before entering their early schooling.

What are the similarities between Glenn Doman Flash cards and Right Brain Education Flash Cards?

The educational method of Glenn Doman and the Right Brain Education method, which includes the Shichida method and Heguru Method, both utilize flashcards as a core teaching material of their teaching strategies.

Both the Glenn Doman Method and Right Brain Education Method of flashing are the same. Both methods flash cards very fast.

In Glenn Doman's book, "How To Teach Your Baby Math," he says that:

Seeing the materials repeatedly and quickly is vital to mastering them.

This sentence written in his book shows his belief in the power of repetition and speed in the learning process.

Glenn Doman advocates for a step by step approach where young children are exposed to as much variety of educational flashcards as possible in a fast flashing card way, reinforcing their understanding and retention through consistent exposure.

If you also refer to his book "How To Teach Your Baby To Read," Doman expands on the principles of effective teaching by highlighting several key factors:

1. The speed at which the materials are shown. 2. The amount of new materials. 3. The joyous manner of mother.
The point of speed, all by itself, can make the difference... .

Here, Glenn Doman emphasizes that not only is speed crucial, but the emotional context provided by the mother’s joyful demean or plays a significant role in the learning experience.

This approach fosters a positive learning environment, making the process enjoyable for the child. Doman insists that the flashcards should be presented at a quick pace, which he believes enhances the child’s ability to absorb and understand the information being presented.

Similar to Right Brain Education, as practiced in the Shichida and Heguru methods, also employs rapid flashcard presentation.

The only difference is...

Compared to Glenn Doman, the Right Brain Education flashcards are shown at a super extra fast speed, often as fast as 0.5 seconds per card or even quicker.

Glenn Doman said flash the cards as fast as you can but did not exactly specify how fast.

For the Right Brain Education flash cards,

This extreme flash card speed is designed to engage the right hemisphere of the brain, which is believed to be responsible for holistic thinking, creativity, and intuition.

The Right Brain Education methods focus not only on speed but also on the overall sensory experience of learning.

The flashcards may incorporate vibrant colors, engaging images, and auditory stimuli to create a multi-sensory learning environment. This approach aims to stimulate the child’s imagination and foster a more solid connection to the information being presented.

For Glenn Doman Method flash cards,

Their primary goal is to teach the young child to read, do math, and gain encyclopedic knowledge, which Doman calls "multiplying your baby intelligence."

For Glenn Doman flash cards are the core material used to teach kids.

When it comes to the manner of teaching of Glenn Doman and Right Brain Education

Glenn Doman's method and Right Brain Education is the same, both also emphasize the mother's joyful manner.

Both method also places a greater emphasis on creating a rich, stimulating environment that captivates the child’s attention and encourages active participation.

At the same time both method also maximize a child's learning potential during the critical early years of development.

However, the Right Brain Education has other additional activities.

They focus on other learning memory activities not only for the child to learn vocabulary, math, and general knowledge but to train their brain to learn faster, more efficiently, long-term memory, intuition, and others to bring out the innate ability of the child.

Below are some of the Right Brain Education activities done in Shichida and Heguru classes and by parents at home:

  1. Speed Reading.

  2. Mandala memory.

  3. Tangram puzzles.

  4. Linking Memory.

  5. Peg Memory.

  6. Eye exercises.

  7. ESP.

  8. Photographic memory training.

  9. and many more.

Is Glenn Doman Method part of Right Brain Education?

Not exactly per se. People often associate it with Right Brain Education due to its similarities (ie. showing flashcards fast) with the Shichida Method and Heguru Method, which are considered Right Brain Education.

The similarity lies in how parents are encouraged to teach, starting at a very young age, by showing flashcards quickly.

The most important aspect is that their method is effective, and many people I know personally have benefited from the Glenn Doman Method and Right Brain Education.

Check out how I made 9,250 flash cards (also where I buy them).
